Hello! I’m Dr. Cheryl Chin, and I am thrilled to have you visit this page. I created this site to honor one of the things I love most about my journey on this earth, and that’s nature and all of the wonderful things it has to offer.
My mother and father always kept a garden where ever they lived, my grandfather was a master horticulturist in Jamaica, and his mother was the local healer and knew all of the medicinal properties of the plants that grew around her. You’ll learn more about my family as you journey through this site, but this apple did not fall far from the tree.
I also love to learn. I am what they call a lifelong learner and have been enriched by all of my education to date. I completed undergraduate college from UNC-Chapel Hill (go Tarheels) in communications, a Masters in Healthcare Administration and a doctorate in Public Health from UT Health Science Center in Houston, TX. I currently work as a marketing executive of a major health system in Louisiana. While I greatly value what I have learned at these prestigious universities and my corporate experience, my greatest lessons and passion came from my family and my personal journey to learn more about how protect my own health.
Not only did my mother love to garden, but she loved to cook. So I grew up eating great food. Unfortunately, as I left for college and started working in corporate America, my health decisions including my food selections have not been great. I have suffered with anemia, benign growths in different parts of my body, weight gain and other ailments. I realized that I needed to get back to the basics to recalibrate my health and my diet was a key component in moving to a better state of wellness.
So, I started to plant my own garden using things that I learned to grow from family and found ways to re-nourish my body.
I am certainly more conscious of my decisions and am on a path to better health. I am convinced we must all take an active role in improving our wellness.
This site is designed to help others on their path to wellness by providing easy and basic tools to incorporate into your lives. It is my deepest desire that our communities experience the joys of physical, spiritual, financial and mental health.
Thanks again for visiting this site. I hope the information helps you to to burst free into a new era of personal wellness.
Dr. Cheryl
