This papaya smoothie is a bit of tropical heaven. Papaya have grown in my homes in Houston, New Orleans and South Florida. Once ripe they are easy to peel, and they make a great addition to a fruit salad or juice. They can even be added to meats when green as a tenderizer.
The tree that I currently have in South Florida has a some ripe fruit that are perfect for this smoothie. The ingredients and process are very simple.
Ingredients
1 ripe papaya
1/2 mango (fresh or frozen)
7-8 strawberries (fresh or frozen)
1 cup coconut milk
1/2 inch piece of ginger
2 pitted dates
Directions
Peel skin from papaya and remove seeds. Peel ginger. Place all ingredients in blender and mix to desired consistency. I typically freeze my fruits as I like to enjoy this drink as a frozen smoothie.
Benefits
As you can imagine, there are many health benefits to eating papaya. A few of my favorite things about the papaya are it’s loaded with antioxidants and really helps to boost digestive health.
Enjoy!
